I have always love this block when I saw saw it in vintage quilts. This is the year to make it up!
You pick the size quilt you want to make using the chart above. it tells you how many blocks for those sizes for the 6" blocks. There is a different chart on the 4" block page.
The blocks are set side by side, no sashing.
*** NOTE **** There is a Video below from Kimberly at the FQS making the blocks and a tip from Quilter Jenny, in our community, for squeezing the most out of a layer cake. Some of you might want to try it.
*** Vintage Kites Quilt along! ***
This is such a darling quilt! The dresses remind me of my grandmas .. so sweet! You can do the whole thing or just a few for a smaller wall hanging.

** Video from FQS and a community Tip **
- Kimberly's video says piece #1 can be cut 3"x3" and turn on diagonal.
- The FPP pad say to cut all #1, #2, #3 pieces 3-1/2" x 4-1/2".
- If it doesn't matter to you if your pieces are straight or diagonal, then maybe this will save some fabric. I made a test quarter section and it worked!
- I was able to get 9 pieces out of one layer cake square. Instead of needing 2 layer cakes I only need 1 layer cake! (see her best photo below)
- My squares ended up being about 3.25" x 3.25" with only 4 cuts on each layer cake square. I used my rotating mat, and each time I rotated I put the pinked edges between the 3-2/8 and 3-3/8 marks on my ruler. 4 turns and 4 cuts and I was finished in no time.
