I have a long love affair with Pandas. Big, soft, cuddy, cute .. what's not to love?
This mug sits on my desk with pens that I use every day. My mom and I visited the National Zoo in Washington DC many years ago and she bought it for me. The National Zoo has Panda's.
Last summer I again went with my family to the National Zoo with and we discovered the Panda Control center.
Complete with a Panda Cam you can watch from anywhere!
If you have heard my talk at a guild, I took a group of quilters on a tour of China right after the Olympics were there. We were so excited to visit the Panda section of the zoo. I couldn't find a photo of me there, but this is the Shipping Dept and some of the Pandas.
This is also where i had bubble tea for the first time, it was really tasty!
We did this short little video back then... it was a wonderful trip!
Fast forward and the Fat Quarter shop did a single Panda block and had a blog tour where several people made the block in different styles.
The free pattern (below) is for one Panda. The ADORABLE 4 block version is made by Angie
I love this floral one from Owen's Olivia.. both for the tour when the pattern was first released.
Earlier this year I found out my Sister-in-love is addicted to the game Panda Pop, and it became a bit of running family joke... so I decided she needed her very own Panda quilt!
I added sashing around the panda so it was 20.5" x 20.5"
Then collected all those 2.5" squares of mine in shades of light blue. Added a very wide white with blue Polka dot border and shipped her quilt as a surprise! It was SO FUN to do, now I want one!
