Block #10 means we are on the home stretch for Hometown Charms and picking fabric becomes more important. I also do some bin emptying, and I'm excited about the results!! And it's LAST DAY to bid on one of my quilts to support the Virginia quilt museum!

- Kathy - turning old enough to get your "adult" card. & being the first one to check out a new book.
- Laura - Our Library is a hub of things to do - My sons went to story time there starting at 6 months old,, Ms Nancy read them a story and taught them many songs. Like a little, green and speckled frog. The wheels on the bus etc. as the kids got older they continued to go to the library for crafts, puzzle day or game day. My kids love/d the Library. We always brought home a ton of books. Just before school starts the library hosts a huge book sale, we built our home library by going to those. I use our library now for the classes they offer. Like painting, quilting, crochet, calligraphy, etc. recently the library was giving out embroidery kits. Our library is a great place to meet up with people and the librarians are decent enough to let you talk and visit. They even offer coffee.
- Melissa - Oh my, Library. Wellington Herrick Memorial Library is a grand building. When I was very young the local children would attend kindergarten in the basement. Later they turned the downstairs into the children's section and I was determined that I would read every book beginning with A. I read a lot but never quite made it to the end. The Library was built by Myron T. Herrick the ambassador to France in 1902.
- Bobbie - Taking our kids to the library for our frequent Saturday visits was a wonderful trip. When we got home I'd attach the 'receipt' listing all of our books to the 'official book bag' and as the books were completed we'd put them into the bag. A few weeks later we would return for the next batch. My kids still go to the library - a wonderful resource!
- Dorris - The library is where I went to get books to teach myself how to make a quilt in the early 1970's. I didn't know anyone who made quilts and had actually only seen 2 or 3 actual quilts in my life, but I fell in love with the ones I saw when I was a child. they were all very scrappy and were probably made from recycled clothing. I remember a bow tie quilt and a drunkards path that my grandmother had. She said she didn't even know who made them. some of the blocks had fabrics that were consistent throughout the block and at least made an attempt a coordinating colors, but others didn't. Some of the pieces were pieced. They were beautiful.
- Kendall - Every Saturday my sister and I would open the HUGE atlas we had to a random page, blindly point to a spot on the page and then head to the library to research the city/country we landed on. The libraians knew us by name as the town library was our home away from home. Children these days miss the excitment of the card catalog, dusty enciclopedias and the wonders of turning a page.
- Suzanne -For many years our library was housed in a historic building owned by the historical society. The building abuts the playground of the elementary school. Kids could come and go and seek reading materials. In summer there was story and craft time there and my kids attended each week.
- Carrie - While other kids were running around and playing outside I was in the library. It was a great old building built with Andrew Carnegie funds. If my Mom couldn't find me she would call up our town's library and ask the librarian to send me home. I'm still "in love" with my current town's library.
