** Hometown Charms! Block #2 **
Street games are fun! Your 'street' might be like mine, the parking area in our apartments. Lots of great memories made there playing with the neighborhood kids.
*** Sloan Zone Ambassador team *** with their Street Games!
- Kathy - Playing street games like kick the can, hide and seek with the whole neighborhood. The old men gossiping at the local pit stop every morning. Walking to school with a group of neighbor kids. Getting donuts on Sunday morning after church. The local church carnivals. "
- Kendall - Summer afternoon cricket in the street. Bins were used for the stumps and you could always here the warning cry “CAR!!” being called out from various other locations. It was fun.
- Bobbie - street games: in my tiny village-riding our bikes at night and avoiding the area under the street lights because there were so many June bugs <ick> And Hide and seek in the corn fields... loved it
- Carrie F - We played kickball in the street (really an alley) The rules were similar to baseball but you could throw the ball to hit someone out. So maybe a combo of baseball and dodge-ball. I remember the ball was the size of a basketball but softer....until you got hit with it then it stung your bare skin. ouch.
- Suzanne - The group of kids(six) on my road played wiffleball at the end of the road where it was a perfect V shape. Most games ended when two boys, brothers, would argue and get into a fight. It was getting close to dinner time by then. We also played hockey on a small pond in winter. We would have a small fire to see as it would get dark so early.
- Laura - I don't remember playing any games in the street. If I did, I would have gotten into trouble for it. 😊 We would kick a stone on our walk to school to see if we could kick it all of the way there.
- Barbara - We would jump rope in the street. Double dutch and regular . Fun memories.
- Lyleen - Lots of bike riding and rollerskating at the school across the street.
- Melissa - We had a small hill in the middle of our street. It was just enough to give you good momentum for your skateboard. We would line up and race.
