Block #4 is 'The Courthouse'. It is often a major building downtown on main street. And a place many a June bride had a visit, like me!
During our travels we see big and small courthouses and I love the ones on the town square.
TIP:
- For the fabrics where I purchased extra yardage, I'm cutting into the Fat Quarters first for the blocks.

TIP of the week:
Let's talk fabric selecting. As much as I can try and 'just know' what is right without cutting, sometime the best way to know is to cut the fabric. Case in point is our block this week.
- The strips can look fabulous before sewing them.
- But when you put all the strips together they create a block of fabric again for this block. That means having a vision of 'what' the cut up and resewn fabric will look like.
- The option on the left has the gingham, and I did not want to sew the gingham back together as it would create a messy image to me.
- On the right I traded gingham for the floral. Which works very well to sew back together.
- But the navy squares blend in too much.
TIP:
- The red square would be a fantastic option. But I wanted to see what Green looked like so I could introduce more green into the quilt.
- Switched the squares to green and I was good to go!
- My fabric waste was the red gingham strips and the original navy squares. I put those into my '2.5" scrap system'. so they are not wasted.
And the groups! The cheeky fabric on the left feels like I'm sewing with cotton candy, I love it! Click the photo if you want a larger image.
