From the first time I heard of a 'Master Gardener' I was intrigued. What was that? How did one become a 'master'? If you are one, or know one, leave me a comment!
I have another tutorial on selecting fabric colors today, this time I tossed out a piece and replaced it.
If you love this fabric and want to make some companion items to your quilt, grab another kit while they are still available. I love this combo so much and can see it used for placemats, pillows, and a table runner.
THE DOWNLOAD is ALWAYS at the end of my article HIGHLIGHTED IN PINK, so keep reading
TIP:
- Put your dies on an angle, I think it makes the metal sheet last longer
BUY A GEMINI Die Cut machine, I love mine!

TIP: Fabric Selection
- This is such an easy block to mockup what the 'weave' will look like. Fold your fabric into strips and 'weave' them into an audition piece.
- Take a look and notice how some blocks are stronger colors. And those are great options.
- One with the collage fabric, middle left, is not enough contrast for the block, you'll lose the weave effect.
- In the end I selected the lightest one as that is the feel of the block I wanted for this quilt

- Lay out the piece and carefully pick them up to sew
- It's very easy to twist them in the wrong direction.
- this is a time to SLOW DOWN
- My Baby Lock Solaris has a beautiful straight stitch and purrs like a kitten
- I had precut my final setting strips. Then when I made my weave block it would not work next to the setting strip as the fabric is in the block and touches it, which loses the block image.
- So that reject strip was cut into 2.5" squares and put into My 'bonus' squares scrap storage bin by color for making 'quilts as I make other things' See my tutorial on that HERE
- I switched to the Gray Polka dot and it was much better.
