And our last Merry & Bright blocks is #17......
It was so hard to fit in all the Christmas memories, old and new, that I wanted to share. I think I might have to do a 2nd Christmas Sew along some day!
I decided the Stocking was my last story to weave into this quilt. Christmas stockings are magical to me. We had the chance to hang them up early, constantly peek in them and then on Christmas Morning the discovery of little gems was irresistible! I think we looked in the stocking first every year.
Over time I've made stockings to hang with a Garden theme, Halloween, Valentines, and others. Put them on the knob of a drawer, the handle of the door, and your Fireplace mantle.
I have a tutorial to round out this block, Let's get to it!
- I really wanted this big buffalo plaid for the stocking
- To see how it would look I cut the alternate strips and placed on top to audtion
- Opt A - straight is kind of boring
- Opt B - on point is fabulous!
- Le me show you how to cut strips so the plaid is on point
- Line up the right side of the ruler as show with the fabric 'on point' under it. You are going from corner to corner in a square of the plaid
- Cut it long enough for the pattern.. a bit longer is better
- Pic 2 - Now cut along the top so you have a chunck on point
Subcut the strips needed.
I did 3 plaid strips, You could switch that up and do just 2 plaid and 3 of another print.
- SHARE your quilt block at the END!
- In each pattern I have a memory or story of my own. When You share your block at my Facebook group, or when you leave me a comment after posting your block, share YOUR memory with me!
