Now onto... Doors.... our homes, and our memories include them. They may be important.. they may not be.. but take a little dig into your memories....
Do you have a Kitchen door now? As a kid? maybe grandma had them, maybe not? I wish I had photos of the doors in my home. The shipping department over the years has taken photos of mundane things like that, which over time, are really not mundane. They are the little pieces that make up our whole life.
In the pattern below, I tell you the full story of my Kitchen Doors... and some tips on color going forward.. so read on!
This is the point in the project where I really start looking at color placement.
Put out all your blocks. This is what You can look for
- Is there a particular fabric or color that sticks out, but it's the only one of that color or fabric and it's kind of bold. Maybe a pop of orange in a block. Now is the time to be sure it has some friends. Add in more of that color or fabric as you make the rest of the blocks.
- Do you like the colors at this point? yes.. great!
- But what if you don't? I ask myself a few things.. WHY don't I like it? Too bold? Too mushy? Too bland? Not enough calm area for my eye to rest? maybe TOO much calm and it needs a spark. Take some fabric swatches & place them on the project & see if you like adding that in or taking it away.
- Is ONE block bothering you... still? Remove it from photo. Do the rest now look much better? Then figure out what is wrong with that one and redo it.
I know many of you would like the setting, but I have not been able to work on it. I have about 1/2 of it drawn, but that is a long ways from having a pattern for you. With my free weekly project that is just how it will be. I will get it done, but I need time to design it.
I'm also behind on my own 2nd colorway, which does not bother me, I'll work on it when I can!
